ABOUT hELM1

Reimagining physical resources: less wasted potential, more value

hELM1 is both a fresh perspective and a tool for managing all types of fixed assets and projects involving them. We help organizations transform their owned, physical resources into strategic assets that drive operational efficiency and reduce environmental impact, on a long-term or project-by-project basis.

The quick backstory

It all started when the vision for hELM1 began to take form already a few years ago. The need for a simple, visual, and efficient tool for managing fixed assets arose from our own projects and challenges. So, we decided to build it ourselves.

We are TRB, a Finnish company with a 30+ year history in innovative interior design projects and concepts, particularly in the hospitality industry. As a family-owned and run business in its second generation, we are beyond passionate about timely delivery, uncompromised quality and creative, circularity-driven ideas in our services.

hELM1 was developed to ensure this happens – and much more.

...and who is the ‘we’
behind hELM1

The longer backstory: the need to manage fixed asset projects and circularity

The TRB team was working on a major staff restaurant and workplace design project for a large multinational in Finland. There were numerous moving parts: large items, small items, new office furniture, old furniture, Excel-sheets and systems for purchase orders, deliveries, invoicing. Several stakeholders, partners, key dates, changing schedules. A few deliveries and even a couple of installed items went missing (and later found) on site.

A fundamental issue was – and still is – that companies were unaware of what they owned. This results to unnecessary new purchases instead of making use of existing ones.

John, our CEO, thought: This needs to be resolved.

“This needs to be resolved. ”

The potential for impact

1.

There is huge potential to run innovative space design projects in a new, efficient way that brings crossfunctional project teams working together toward common goals.

2.

There are significant, often overlooked, opportunities to optimize asset ownership costs, which are hidden by a lack of knowledge, systems and responsibility.

3.

There is immense potential in repurposing existing assets for both profitable and sustainable growth. First, we need to know what kinds of assets we have to work with.

Why the name hELM1?

Navigating complex projects where different physical assets are identified, located, surveyed, tracked, repurposed, maintained, moved, recycled and included in space design requires strong leadership and steering of the crew in the right direction.

Together with customers and partners from various industries from hospitality to workplace design and international office removals, we have developed hELM1 to introduce a new, strategic way to manage and think about fixed assets.

hELM1, previously known as TRB tool, has already been used in over 200 projects.

hELM1 is all about being at the helm.

(Yes, some of us are avid sailors, too, which is why we love the helm reference.)

hELM1 comes in two options: Fixed Assets Management and Project Management (still being finalized). Choose Fixed Assets Management if your goal is long-term savings, efficiency and circularity, or Project Management if you need a tool to optimize assets and teamwork within projects. Both solutions let you manage the whole picture based on your needs. If you want to start with running inventories and keeping them up to date, Fixed Assets Management is clearly your choice. The Project Management solution is still under development, but it will support efficient handling of individual projects once released.

Our pricing is based on the number of users and assets managed in hELM1 and whether your need is more long-term or a specific project. If you need custom features or specific adjustments, we will provide a tailored quote for that work.
